An achievement assessment is a category open to define any various method of measuring, determining or analyzing the extent of learning or mastery in regards to intended learning outcomes of instruction.
1) Teachers should choose assessment methods that are appropriate for the specific student based on needs, current level of mastery and demographic data
2) Teachers should be skilled at creating assessments that align with research backed instructional practices
3) Teachers should have the necessary ability to administer assessments with equity, score and analyze appropriately, and accurately interpreting the results
4) Teachers should utilize data from assessments to plan intervention, extension and differentiation
5) Teachers should focus on grading and assessing ethically and equitably
6) Teaches should be skilled at communicating data and interpreting results to share with students, staff or families
7) Teachers should be vigilant in identifying methods of assessment that are unethical, illegal, or unequitable. This includes the use of assessment data.
