The mouflon is a wild sheep native to the Caspian region from eastern Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Italy, and Iran. It is thought to be the ancestor of all modern domestic sheep breeds. The mouflons are normally shy animals that come out from for foraging mostly in the evening or early morning. They would also not stay at one place for long. During the day, they usually rest under overhanging bush or rocks, making sure they are well hidden so as to stay safe from the sudden attack of predators. Natural predators like bears and wolves have all but disappeared from the mouflon's range. Eagles can pose a problem for young lambs, and the mouflon is still hunted for their trophy horns. The mouflon is a shy animal which feeds mostly at night and doesn't stay long in one place.
