Introduction
This project was developed to address a common challenge faced by high school students: the proper use and understanding of comparative and superlative adjectives in English. These grammatical structures are essential not only for effective communication but also for success in standardized exams, academic writing, and real-life conversations. Despite their frequency in everyday language, many students struggle with forming and using these structures accurately, especially when dealing with irregular forms or more advanced vocabulary.
The decision to create a comprehensive 5-lesson plan was based on the need to build knowledge progressively, allowing students to first understand the basic rules, then apply them in meaningful, real-world contexts. The lessons incorporate grammar instruction, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and communicative activities, ensuring that learners engage with the content in diverse and practical ways. These lessons were developed for High School students (1st grade/ 15-17 years old) performing at Basic and an intermediate or A1 English proficiency level. My current school in the city of Teresina is a small school with EFL classes meet once a week for 60 minutes at a time and class sizes are approximately 30-35 students.
