I created a Choice Board for the PDPI Final Project on the theme "future and technology," reflecting on the following question: "How can the use of technology in everyday life change who I am in the future?" Choice Board is a tool that can be used by teachers to include various learning preferences, such as kinesthetic, auditory, and visual learners. It includes reading, writing, and speaking skills, with students able to choose three options to respond. Considering all the levels to be worked on and also the engagement of the entire class, the activities were developed at various levels of difficulty. The goal of this strategy is to be an interactive tool for students, facilitating learning and reflection on the future, in addition to initiating the unit that will address the future and technology.
This Choice Board was developed for Brazilian middle school (eigth year / 13-14 years old) performing at an beginning English proficiency level. My current school in the state of Pernambuco serves a large area of various neighborhoods of urban zone, whose population is made up of families of various social classes. EFL classes meet one time a week for 1 hour and 40 minutes at a time and class sizes are 40 -43 students.
Since my students do not have internet access or appropriate equipment to use the media, the links will be accessed on my own device and projected to the entire classroom if the student chooses one that has an access link.
This menu focuses on TESOL principles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Bloom’s Taxonomy. As the assessment is formative, the feedback will be delivered after each activity is accomplished.
