Introduction
For the PDPI final Project, I have organized a Choice Board on the topic Environmental Awareness and Responsibility. This choice board was created for a middle school (grade 9/ ages 14-15 years old) performing at a basic A1 English proficiency level. My current schools are in the State of Paraíba: Francisca Leite Vitorino School – Boa Vista and São Clemente School – São José da Mata (Campina Grande). We have two classes a week, each one with 50 minutes, So I intend to conclude the activities in 7 classes.
It is important to mention that choice boards are interesting ways to deliver differentiated classes by giving students the chance to feel they have significant participation in the learning process. The following choice board was created to work this way; it begins with the direction for the students. Where they need to do the activity in the middle and then choose more two activities in a row (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) to complete the tic-tac-toe, considering their skills and preferences. These activities focus primarily on World-Readiness Standards for Language Learning in Connections and Cultures and TESOL principles 2,3,4,5 and 6 are emphasized.
In conclusion, I intended to stimulate an English learning environment where students can also reflect about a consciousness concerning on deforestation and cooperate with the preservation of forests, by the time they are supposed to plant.
