2nd Week of September
Since 'retro' is a thing in Korea right now, why not try retro snacks? These are snacks that were sold in stationery stores a long time ago, mostly for less than a dollar. This week, let's go on a journey of exploring old school snacks in Korea that will take you back to childhood memories! (There are only 10 most famous snacks on this report, so check out the videos below to find out more about Korean old school snacks!)
#1 Beer candy
Don't worry-this does not contain any alcohol! It is a sweet and sour candy that just looks like a glass of draft beer. Many kids acted as if they are drunk after eating this candy!
#2 Apollo
"Apollo" is a type of candy that has fruit-flavored cream stuffed inside the short straw. Kids would pretend they are smoking with this in their mouth.
#3 Kkwe-dol-i
This snack is basically crispy rice puff that has two flavors: Original and chocolate. When this first came out, the price was just 10 cents!
#4 Sticky tape candy
This may look like a sticky tape, but it's not! It's just fruit-flavored sugar candy. Parents back then were often shocked with this as they thought kids were eating real sticky tape.
#5 Chakani
Chakani is basically a cheese crisp in a stick form. This sweet and savory snack was one of the best~
#6 Jjon-di-gi
The Korean word "jjon-di-gi" means "sticky thing", which is the perfect name for this snack! It is made out of corn and flour, and tastes like corn or sometimes pumpkin. It is more chewy when grilled, and you could sprinkle sugar or ramen powder on the top.
#7 Traffic lights candy
This is a fruit gummy covered with sugar. The red, yellow, green and blue color reminded everyone of the traffic light, so that is why it is called more often as "traffic light candy" although its real name is "crossroads."
#8 Jjak-kkung
This is a Korean version of "Nerds." Two flavors, grape and strawberry, make one product, and they are quite sour.
#9 Marukawa gum
Although this gum was from Japan, it once was one of the best-selling snacks in Korean stationary stores.
#10 V-corn, Nana corn
These two products were rivals, as they were the same corn chips. They still sell this in small supermarkets, and you cannot stop once you've started eating.

“서담SEODAM“ is a famous channel for its baking recipes. She has led the trend of dessert videos on YouTube Korea starting from ‘tanghulu’ to 'earth gummies’. About two weeks ago, she uploaded a recipe video of ‘cloud bread’ which first became famous on TikTok. It is basically colored meringue baked in oven, but due to its dreamy visual, people have expressed their interest in making this. Different baking YouTube channels in Korea have created different styles by adding up different colors or shapes. You should try at home too, since it is super easy to make and requires only 3 ingredients: Egg, sugar and corn starch!
In the most recent episode of <맛남의 광장 (Delicious Rendevouz)>, Paik Jong Won has introduced an easy recipe to make '마요 라면땅 (mayo ramen snack)'. The Korean word '라면땅’ means snack made from uncooked ramen noodles, topped with seasonings of your choice. Paik’s version included mayonnaise, which created a great harmony with the spicy ramen powder. The ingredients are one instant noodle, mayonnaise and sugar. All you need to do is to spread the mayonnaise on the ramen noodle and put some sugar and ramen powder on the top. Then microwave it for about 3 minutes and it is done! You can enjoy the creamy, spicy, and crunchy snack in just 5 minutes!

Video editing updates are coming to YouTube Studio.
In the latest Creator Insider video, Team YouTube member Abhinav revealed that soon, all creators will get access to an updated version of the copyright timestamps tool introduced last year. For those unfamiliar, YouTube’s copyright claiming system used to inform a creator when a claim had been filed on one of their videos, but didn’t tell them exactly what part of the video supposedly contained copyrighted content. This made it difficult for creators to identify and remove said content from their videos, and resulted in a number of creators simply pulling claimed videos down permanently rather than trying to comb through and edit them for reupload. YouTube’s timestamp tool made the process much easier. It requires anyone filing a copyright claim on a video to provide the creator with exact timestamps indicating where they think their content is used. Then, on the creator side, YouTube added an onsite editing feature letting creators auto-delete portions of their videos timestamped by copyright claimants.
But there was a slick sticking point with the timestamps: creators were completely unable to change them. So, if a claimant highlighted the wrong portion of a video, or too much of a video, or their timestamp didn’t capture the entire duration of copyrighted content, the creator couldn’t use the one-click editing tool to fix it. That’s now changing. YouTube’s new tweak will let creators manually adjust the start and end points of copyright timestamps. Once an area is selected, creators can choose to mute all audio in the section, or just the music (though this latter option is still in beta). Abhinav said 100% of creators should see this change within the next week.
Another unveiled update is coming to YouTube’s blur editor. The tool lets creators auto-identify and blur faces, plus offers custom fuzz boxes that can be sized and placed over objects like license plates and signs. Currently, creators can ask the tool to track the blurred object and blur it for the entire upload. With the update, they’ll be able to set exact timestamps for each blurred object, and will be able to modify the position and size of the blur as needed throughout the video. Additionally, YouTube is adding custom oval-shaped blur sections to complement the already-available boxes. It’s not clear when that update will roll out to creators.
