Math Tip- When teaching subtraction with regrouping I use a phrase that I learned while working with a great teacher. I find it helpful for those students in the upper grades who may still have difficulty with regrouping. It is Bigger Bottom Better Borrow. It helps the students to remember the steps they need to take to solve problems involving subtraction with regrouping.
