Why teach Math vocabulary?

We believe that mathematics should be taught using a consistent vocabulary. Students’ mathematical vocabulary learning is vital for the development of mathematical proficiency. The following list of mathematical terms is recommended for Second Grade. Teachers introduce this math vocabulary to students by using these words orally alongside familiar language to build students’ familiarity with the language of math.
