Place Value

Big Ideas

Mathematical relationships among numbers can be represented, compared, and communicated.

Mathematical relationships can be represented as expressions, equations and inequalities in mathematical situations.

Numerical quantities, calculations, and measurements can be estimated or analyzed by using appropriate strategies and tools.

Patterns exhibit relationships that can be extended, described, and generalized.

Place Value

This music video explores how place value represents numbers as they increase in quantity from ones to tens and hundreds. Students join a cartoon character who is collecting fruit. This fun song helps strengthen students' understanding of an important mathematical concept. Click HERE

Number Frames

This interactive number frame allows students to use a fun variety of markers to build a visual representation of numbers. Students drag markers in groups of ones, fives and tens. The students can also write the numbers in the correct place value. This resource can also be used to practice their basic addition and subtraction facts. This free math is available online at the Math Learning Center or for download on Chrome or Apple App stores. Place Value Beads

This worksheet provides students with practice writing two digit numbers. The students need to count the beads by tens and ones to make numbers. This worksheet provides a picture of beads on an abacus that can partner well with the interactive number rack pictured above. To download this worksheet click HERE.
