The JAG National standards are covered through the competencies. There are 37 core competencies broken down into categories A-F, which are required in all high school programs. There is a total of 88 high school JAG competencies. Competencies 38-88 (letters G-I) are not required, but many of them will be covered over the course of a two-year JAG program and discussing these concepts will certainly contribute to the preparedness of each JAG student.
Competencies will be covered at three different mastery levels. Level 1 is introduction, level 2 is practice, and level 3 is mastery. At a level one, concepts are being initially explained and outlined for students. At level two, students are practicing those concepts but still may make mistakes and have support from the Specialist. At level three, students are demonstrating their command of the competency independently.
In this section, each competency is explained based on the JAG National Curriculum. It is here for Specialists to reference to help them ensure that they are truly covering the intended material when they list a competency on a model service or PBL.
