When does a person begin to age spiritually? When it stops.
The icon may change this situation.
- why?
- because the icon “leads”, carries out”, “introduces; there is a movement here.
The icon provokes movement, maybe sometimes effort; the icon makes it impossible to stop, gives us “wind” and movement, which are a sign of life - a manifestation of the presence of the Holy Spirit.
In the Holy Spirit, “my whole self” is rejuvenated, but we not only rejuvenate ourselves, we even have a chance to be born again!
In the Holy Spirit “everything becomes new” (cf. 2 Cor 5:17), therefore everything in our life can become an opportunity to regain ourselves for now and for eternity.
The icon, with the gentleness of its simplicity and the silence of the light that dwells in it, touches our calendar, penetrates its rhythm and reverses the perspective of the time passing.
What has been distant so far suddenly closes in; an emotion that faces the reality of the passage of time begins to befriend the wisdom of eternity.
An icon is not many words, an icon is One Word, like one life, one heart, one soul. It brings us together.
How do we know this? Jesus told us about this: “Few things are needed- or indeed only one” (Lk 10: 41-42).
We humbly ask for intercession to those who have managed to do so,
The luckiest of
The lucky ones:
All Saints, pray for us.
We need you
