The icon of the Holy Family
"Finally, God said:
Let us make man in our image, in our likeness." (Genesis 1:26)
God created man in his image and likeness ...
A part of this truth is described by the icon of the Holy Family.
The icon of the Holy Family is like the human Face of the Holy Trinity.
By praying in front of this icon, one can experience that by lifting the veil (revealing the secret) of the Mystery of the Holy Trinity, the icon of the Holy Family becomes a unique opportunity to awaken a Beautiful Man in us and relationships that value the power of Mutual Respect.
Words may not convince us, but Beauty out of this world is able to capture us with the strength of its charming gentleness, that we would like to go beyond the limits of our own "know" and our own beliefs and habits. There is something about an icon that does not allow us to grow old spiritually. There is a real part of eternity in it, so contact with the icon rejuvenates us! It rejuvenates spiritually and intellectually, and consequently also benefits our body.
Jesus said: "The kingdom of God will not come visibly; and they won't say, "Here it is" or, "There it is". Because the kingdom of God is in your midst ”(Lk 17: 20-21).
Holy Baptism opened a new perspective of life for us: eternity in the Love of God and man.
I am becoming a Christian, that is, a person saved by God's Love and Mercy. From now on, death no longer has power over me! I am receiving a new Family and this Family is receiving me. Jesus called this family the Church. We all look at Jesus from now on, and listen to Jesus. We need a Light that will not go out. And Holy Baptism is the starting point to reach the Goal - safely get to the Home and to the Family sharing a meal together. Holy Baptism has opened for me a Path that leads in depth, so that I can go further - develop myself getting to know who God is and who I am; maturing in the love of God and man, in the spiritual and psychological dimension, approach the Goal.
So let us look at the icon of the Holy Family so that we can see what it means to be a man, what it means to be a Christian. Let us look at the icon of the Holy Family so that we can see what the Holy Church is all about, to which community Jesus invites us; let's look at the icon of the Holy Family as a mirror in which we can see our dreams.
Let us look at the icon of the Holy Family so that we can see what Jesus was trying to tell us when he said that the Kingdom of God is in our midst?
The reality of life is not only visible one. Jesus shows us our priorities and gives us light: "Apart from me you can do nothing" (Jn 15: 5). You could say that it is obvious, but nevertheless the pace of life that we experience every day causes that the Christian's soul, is often between a rock and a hard place. Soul trapped in the past and lost in the future, it does not keep up with life in the “timeless present”, and we lose contact with "Home" and with " Family". Humility is replaced by subjectivism and, consequently, disorientation. The Christian begins to become salt that has no taste and a window through which the kingdom of God cannot be seen.
But in order to stop this process, God gave us, among other things, icons!
When we look at beauty, we become beauty, and silence can wake us from sleep. Life is too short to rush and poke; it is impossible to comb the wind, life is not only a race through time, it is above all entrusting to eternity. Humility will save love.
Let's sit in front of the icon.
Let us give the floor to the icon ...
Let us give our voice to God ...
Let's hug again ...
"Finally, God said:
Let us make man in our image, in our likeness." (Genesis 1:26)
