2nd Grade

Week 6

5/3 - 5/9

Hello 2nd Grade! This will be the the last lesson of the year for us to allow parents and students an easy transition into the summer. The last week of class can be pretty chaotic so your child's Technology assignment will be one less thing to worry about :-)

We are going to do a few lessons on Code.org that involve coding the arrow keys on your keyboard to do various tasks. It's a good introduction into how we use computer language to complete a task.

  • Please go to Code.org

  • On the top-left of the screen click on the link that says 'Learn'.

  • Scroll down a little bit until you see a square that says 'Grades K-5' and click the box that says 'Learn More'.

  • Scroll down and click on 'Course D'.

  • Scroll down to Lesson number 5 'Events in Bounce' and click on the number 1 in the circle.

      • This is the first activity. You will grab the blue block that says "Move Left" and connect it to the bottom of the block "When left arrow".

      • Click "Run". Now when you press the left arrow key on your keyboard the hand will move to the left.

      • Simply follow the directions at the top of the screen to finish each activity. Complete all 8 activities. There are lots of options to make the game your own personal version whether it's the sounds you decide it should make or if you want to get crazy and reverse the arrow key directions! Make they game your own!
