2^nd Week One

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is staying safe and sanitized this first week of our Covid inspired classroom! I am going to be sending out lessons once a week for parents to explore with their students. These lessons should take anywhere from 15 minutes to half an hour and are to be practiced TWICE a week and can be split up into whatever section you feel work best. Lessons will usually revolve around various websites since finding free software that works on both Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX can be a little tricky.

Here your child can practice their early multiplication skills as well as their base 10 skills with colorful graphics and a wonderful digital interface. Please make sure that they practice all of the following lessons on this page:

1. Base 10 Cubes

2. Apply Place Value

3. Using Base 10 Blocks

4. Subtraction within 20

5. The three activities included on the bottom-right of the screen that deal with multiplication

You may have to allow Flash to run on your web browser before you can access some activities. If you need help with this, please email me and I’ll help you get it working.

If you have never been here before then you are in for a treat! This is an exceptional website that focuses on reading, math and mouse and keyboard usage. If you have already downloaded the Starfall app on a touchscreen device, please allow your student to work on the website on a desktop computer so that they will also be developing mouse and keyboard skills.

We will be visiting Starfall several times throughout the semester and after they complete this lesson feel free to let your student explore all of the wonderful pages that this website has to offer! There is a paid version of this website that unlocks many more activities if you feel that Starfall is a benefit to your student's education.
