"Leadership is not measured by the authority you hold, but by the opportunities you create for others."
In Ghosts of Savannah, Role represents your character's place within their community.
As characters earn the trust and respect of their peers, they may be offered positions of responsibility within their organization. Some Roles focus on mentorship, investigation, diplomacy, or specialized duties, while others carry the responsibility of leading a faction.
Unlike Experience or Resonance, Roles are not earned automatically. They are granted through meaningful participation, trust, and continued service to the community.
Every organization in Ghosts of Savannah has its own traditions, structure, and hierarchy.
As characters become established within their faction, opportunities may arise to take on Roles that help strengthen and support their community.
These Roles vary by organization and may include responsibilities such as mentoring members, preserving lore, organizing investigations, assisting leadership, or guiding the direction of the faction.
The specific Roles available within each organization are described on their respective faction pages.
Regardless of title, every Role shares the same purpose: Service to the community.
Some Roles carry leadership responsibilities.
Leaders help create roleplay, welcome new players, mentor their communities, organize events, and connect their faction to the living story of Savannah.
Leadership is not a reward or a measure of power. It is both an In Character position of responsibility and an Out of Character commitment to helping the community thrive.
The success of a leader is measured not by how much authority they possess, but by how many stories they help others tell.
Players serving in leadership Roles are expected to:
Welcome and mentor new members.
Encourage roleplay and community participation.
Organize meetings, ceremonies, investigations, and events.
Help connect faction stories to the larger world.
Recognize members who consistently contribute.
Communicate with the Story Team when needed.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive community.
Leadership is about helping both your faction and the wider sim grow together.
Faction leaders are encouraged to create stories within their organizations while remaining connected to Ghosts of Savannah's shared setting.
Major lore changes, significant political shifts, new supernatural powers, artifacts, or stories that permanently affect the wider world require approval from the Story Team.
When in doubt, simply ask.
Roles and leadership positions become available as communities grow and their needs evolve.
Players who consistently contribute to their faction, mentor others, participate in stories, and demonstrate reliability may be invited to take on greater responsibility.
Leadership is based on trust, collaboration, activity, and a willingness to serve the community.
Like every aspect of character progression, Roles are earned through participation and are intended to support both the faction and the shared world of Ghosts of Savannah.
