Feline Shifters Skills

Feline shifters move with a balance of grace and raw danger. This skill channels the lethal fluidity of apex hunters, striking with precision, evading with instinct, and turning every movement into a calculated weapon. Whether stalking through a chaotic battlefield or dueling a magical opponent, Predator’s Poise lets you exploit openings and land crippling blows with elegant brutality.

Simple Task - TARGETED STRIKE:  Deliver a fast, controlled hit aimed to impair or distract, relying on accuracy over force. You want to tag a specific body part to interrupt or distract without committing to a full engagement.

• Novice level success: You clip a vulnerable area, briefly interrupting their next action

• Intermediate level success: You land a precise hit that impairs their movement or aim temporarily

• Expert level success: You exploit a narrow opening to momentarily disable a limb or sense, like to throw off balance, blur vision, etc.

Difficult Task - TACTICAL DOMINANCE:  Manipulate the fight through agility, timing, and body movement. Use throws, positioning, and clever feints to shift the battlefield. You want to move or manipulate your opponent’s position, change footing, or shape the environment of the fight.

• • Novice level success:  You unbalance your opponent with a sudden shift,  a sidestep, a low sweep, or a grip that forces them to adjust.

  • Intermediate level success: You redirect their momentum or bait them into a vulnerable stance.

  • Expert level success: You maneuver them exactly where you want, into a wall, hazard, or an ally’s line of fire.

Challenging Task - RELENTLESS PURSUIT:  Commit to a sustained, intentionally aggressive assault. Pressure a powerful or defended foe with continuous strikes and nimble movement, wearing down their defenses.

• • Novice level success:  You initiate a flurry of attacks, forcing them to shift to defense or spend resources.

  • Intermediate level success: You break their guard or magical flow long enough to land a significant hit.

  • Expert level success: You execute a perfectly timed sequence, a feint, a sidestep, and a decisive strike, breaking through their defense in one clean motion and leaving them exposed for the next assault.

To feline shifters, the hunt is more than instinct, it is art. Shadow Step represents their uncanny ability to vanish into shadows, stalk prey in near silence, and strike without warning. This skill reflects the natural grace and eerie stealth of those who move like ghosts through underbrush, alleyways, and magical wards alike. Whether hunting a spirit or slipping away from danger, the Shadow Step is how they disappear.

Simple Task - VANISH INTO STILLNESS:  Hide in dim terrain or stalk a target without drawing attention.  You’re remaining still and hidden, ideal for ambushes or surveillance.

• Novice level success: You remain hidden in low light, blending into your surroundings like a shadow.

• Intermediate level success: You track your target with no sound or scent, remaining completely undetected.

• Expert level success: You become nearly invisible, your presence masked to everyone, unless they're actively searching with magical means.

Difficult Task - GHOST IN THE DARK:  Moves around undetected. You’re moving through dangerous areas without being seen or sensed.

• • Novice level success:  You partially obscure yourself, evading basic magical detection or casual glances.

  • Intermediate level success: You bypass enchantments or avoid notice from creatures that sense through magic or spirit.

  • Expert level success: You move completely undetected through protected zones, slipping between the cracks of light, sound, and spell.

Challenging Task - SILENT STRIKE:  Deliver a sudden, stealth-driven attack before your target realizes you're there. This is an aggressive, close-range ambush made possible by your supernatural stealth and speed.

• • Novice level success:  You strike before your target can fully react, landing a clean hit and breaking their focus or casting.

  • Intermediate level success: You hit a vulnerable point with enough force or surprise to briefly disable a limb, ward, or weapon.

  • Expert level success: You deliver a decisive ambush, not fatal, but enough to leave your opponent dazed, disarmed, or wide open for the next attack. 

Feline shifters often command a space without a sound. This ability manifests as an aura that silences, unnerves, or subtly dominates. Quiet Territory reflects the instinctive presence a predator brings to their surroundings. Whether to intimidate, calm, or suppress, this skill allows the user to shape the emotional and spiritual tone of a space with quiet power.

Simple Task - ESTABLISH THE STILLNESS:  Reduce attention and social pressure. Passive social manipulation. Use this to disengage from social attention, disappear in plain sight, or keep conversations private.

• Novice level success: You dim your presence; people overlook you in passing or forget to address you.

• Intermediate level success: You or your group blends into the background, avoiding casual interaction.

• Expert level success: You create a quiet bubble where conversations stall and outsiders instinctively steer clear.

Difficult Task - SILENCE THE EDGE:  De-escalate conflict or emotional charge in the area. A wave of emotional control. Use this to calm a hostile situation, interrupt a meltdown, or silence chaos before it explodes.

• • Novice level success: enemies pause or falter, momentarily unsure.

  • Intermediate level success: Your presence dampens hostile emotion, giving allies an opening or calming a situation.

  • Expert level success: You suppress magical or emotional flare-ups, freezing escalation before it begins.

Challenging Task - HOLD THE LINE:  Actively anchor a space against intrusion,  physical, emotional, or magical. Territorial claim

• • Novice level success:  You make yourself immovable, physically or psychologically.

  • Intermediate level success: You block or repel a supernatural being

  • Expert level success: You lock down a zone, nobody crosses it, no spirit enters, no skill penetrates temporarily.

Feline shifters are deeply attuned to thresholds, the spaces between light and shadow, waking and dream, life and the beyond. Twilight Prowl embodies this liminal gift, allowing the shifter to interact with spirits and navigate telluric ley lines that pulse beneath the world. This is a skill of mystery, movement, and the uncanny. (There will be notecards around the sim or STer guidance information to RP)

This skill takes a large amount of mental preparation and focus. This can't be done in the middle of an action scene. It is not something that is attempted alone since the player cannot focus on both realms at once. Their body might need to be protected or kept watch over while they travel. The more challenging the task, the more focus, preparation, and assistance one will need.

Simple Task - SENSE THE FAULTLINES:  Perceive subtle energy fluctuations, spirit residue, or unstable Veil zones. 

• Novice level success: You get a vague emotional impression—something’s there, but not what or where. 

• Intermediate level success: You can pinpoint a location and identify the type of disturbance (spirit, curse, ley energy).

• Expert level success: You can track movement patterns, identify multiple anomalies, or determine recent activity. 

Difficult Task - PEER THROUGH THE TWILIGHT:   Observe the spiritual echoes through the Veil

• • Novice level success: Receive glimpses with unclear meaning from a past event.

  • Intermediate level success: Receive with coherent meaning from a past event 

  • Expert level success: Observe a past event in detail.

Challenging Task - WALK BETWEEN WORLDS:  Briefly step into the Veil barrier, half in the material world, half in the spiritual. Time warps, shadows twist, and things hidden become clear. This allows you to interact with the spirits. (There will be notecards around the sim or STer guidance information to RP)

• • Novice level success:  Your passage is unstable; you're pulled back quickly and disoriented, obtaining limited and disorganized information. It lasts 1 post.

  • Intermediate level success: You can linger longer, navigating the Veil barrier for 2 posts, obtaining brief and coherent information.

  • Expert level success: You walk fully into the Veil barrier, and you are to observe and obtain information from the spirits for 3 posts. You are not able to see what’s happening with your body.
