Canine Shifters Skills

An innate sixth sense binds wolf shifters to their own packmates, even across distance or chaos. This bond allows for fluid coordination in combat, intuitive awareness of each other’s well-being, and subtle psychic warnings of danger. When honed, it’s more than teamwork; it’s a battlefield chorus. (NOTE: One post to coordinate the attack - one post to attack)

Simple Task -  SENSE:  Tap into the emotional or directional presence of a nearby packmate. 

• Novice level success: You sense a packmate’s general direction or emotional state.

• Intermediate level success: Pinpoint their location within a short range or identify their physical condition.

• Expert level success: Briefly share a two-way sensory input 

Difficult Task - STRIKE:  Use shared instinct to execute maneuvers in tandem with a minimum of 3 packmates.  (Note: the rest of the pack don’t roll on that turn and follow the lead of the player who did the action. After all the pack members finished posting, then the opponent/s post).

• • Novice level success:  Attack one opponent 

  • Intermediate level success: Attack two opponents

  • Expert level success: Attack a whole group (three or more opponents) .

Challenging Task -  HUNT:  Rely purely on the telepathic pack-bond to detect hidden threats or coordinate without direct input. (Note: this can be communicated to the pack member/s that are currently ON SIM by posting in local first, and then copying the post on IM to them).

  • Expert level success: Call three pack members

Those attuned to the moon walk the edge between the physical and spiritual. Moonbound shifters feel the ebb and pull of unseen tides, granting them glimpses of truth, resistance to illusion, and clarity during rites or dreams. The moon is both their shield and their compass. (Notecards around the sim give you information for this ability)

Simple Task -  FEEL:  Perceive the residual energy left by a past event in an open location. (There are notecards around the sim with information to RP).

Difficult Task - WITHSTAND:  Call on lunar resilience to resist mental tampering. 

• • Novice level success:  You can resist non-magical persuasion or intimidation

  • Intermediate level success: You can resist a hex, curse, glamour

  • Expert level success: You can resist spiritual attacks

Challenging Task -  RECEIVE THE ANCESTORS:  Call upon your spiritual ancestors' animals to help you with your stories or fights.

  • Intermediate level success: The Spirit animal helps for two posts

  • Expert level success: The Spirit animal helps for three posts

An innate, animal-born awareness that surpasses human understanding. Through heightened smell, hearing, and night vision, canine shifters perceive the world with razor-sharp clarity. Whether tracking emotions on the wind, hearing danger before it strikes, or seeing through darkness like daylight, this primal sense is both their greatest strength and deepest instinct. Each task has examples for each of the perceptions: smell, hearing and night vision. (Note: Information about this skill can be found in Notecards around the sim OR upon agreement with another player OOC that can facilitate that information)

Simple Task -  INSTINCTUAL READ:  Everyday use of enhanced senses with minimal effort; suited for calm or familiar environments. 

• Novice level success:  Detect a strong scent trail within a small area, hear someone approaching nearby, or move through dim light without stumbling.

• Intermediate level success: Identify subtle emotional states through scent, hear faint sounds like whispered conversations through walls, or spot fine movement in the dark

• Expert level success:  Instantly analyze scent layers (e.g., multiple people), follow shifting tones in a distant conversation, or read facial expressions in near-total darkness.

Difficult Task -  FOCUSED TRAIL:  Requires focus or effort; may occur in unpredictable or partially obstructed environments. 

• • Novice level success:  Follow a recent scent trail across several blocks, distinguish direction of a muffled sound, or navigate a darkened forest without colliding.  

  • Intermediate level success: Track an individual across urban or wild terrain, recognize emotional deception by scent, or detect an ambush from subtle nighttime movement.

  • Expert level success: Isolate a fading trail in a crowded or noisy space, hear specific heartbeats or breathing in chaos, or identify someone concealed in total darkness.

Challenging Task -  PREDATOR’S EDGE:  Use enhanced senses to identify physical threats and tampering. 

• • Novice level success:  Sense that something is off, even if the details are unclear. You might hesitate before stepping into a trap or feel a chill when a cloaked threat is near

  • Intermediate level success:  Detect and interpret signs of sabotage, concealed traps, or hidden enemies. You can act before walking into danger.  

  • Expert level success: Preempt danger by identifying the threat and its intention before it unfolds. You can act strategically to disable, evade, or expose the danger.

When isolated from their pack, canine shifters become unpredictable and dangerous—cornered predators whose instinct drives them to survive at any cost. Lone Fang represents their feral combat style when fighting alone, blending speed, aggression, and relentless drive.

Simple Task - SNAP REFLEX:  A swift, instinctive bite or claw meant to create distance or stun an opponent

• Novice level success:  Lunge at a single target, forcing a stagger or pause.

• Intermediate level success: Target two enemies in quick succession, briefly halting their advance.

• Expert level success:  Strike up to three opponents in a blur of teeth and claws, disrupting coordination.

Difficult Task - EVEN THE ODDS::  Requires focus or effort; may occur in unpredictable or partially obstructed environments. 

• • Novice level success:  Disarm or wound a single foe to reduce their threat. Subdue the attackers disabling their ability to attack for one post.

  • Intermediate level success: Tactically disable two enemies, such as biting a weapon arm or toppling them. Subdue the attackers, disabling their ability to attack for one post.

  • Expert level success: Create a moment of chaos among three attackers, seizing control of the fight for one post.

Challenging Task - PRIMAL AGGRESSION:  When backed into a corner, the canine shifter unleashes their most vicious instincts. Bloodied, alone, and overwhelmed, they stop holding back.

• • Novice level success:  Enter a frenzy against one foe, ignoring pain and consequences for one post.

  • Intermediate level success:  Tear into two enemies with wild, unrelenting strikes for one post.

  • Expert level success: Become a force of nature, attacking up to three opponents with reckless abandon and no fear of injury for one post.
