The Post-search light [Bainbridge]
HISTORY
Newspaper
E. H. "Pat" Griffin, father to future Segregationist governor Marvin Griffin, founded the Bainbridge Post in 1907, and he purchased the Bainbridge Search Light in 1915 thus creating the Post-search light. Marvin Griffin took over management of the paper from his father in 1933, and only briefly gave up editorial duties during his tenure as Georgia Governor (1954-59). Marvin Griffin edited the paper until his retirement in 1972, at which point his son, Sam Griffin, took over.
In Marvin Griffin's 1954 gubernatorial campaign, he promised to protect segregated schools “come hell or high water.”
