Newspaper
Founded in 1963 by Abram Eisenman, the owner and publisher of the Savannah Sun and local progressive leader.
The Banner focused its reporting on Civil Rights activism throughout the South.
Houston L. Tolbert, civil rights activist and former publisher of the The Herald and short-lived Savannah Sentinel served as plant superintendent for the paper.
