HISTORY
Newspaper

From Chappell, D. L. (1998). The Divided Mind of Southern Segregationists. The Georgia Historical Quarterly, 82(1), 45–72. http://www.jstor.org/stable/40583696. pgs. 46-47: "At the time, Harris was respected, even by his enemies, as an authority on southern white behavior. . .Thus Harris helped set a pattern for a whole generation of southern governors who got elected by playing the role of extreme segregationist. Harris's bi-weekly Augusta Courier was one of the most widely quoted and probably the longest lived (1947-74) segregationist publications in the South. He was president of the white supremacist Citizens' Councils of America during the Councils' heyday from 1958 to the mid-1960s."
