The history of the Brunswick News began with the publication of the Democratic-aligned Brunswick call in 1894 (Rowells, 1895, p. 115). Editor and publisher M.J. Parker published the paper daily except for Mondays. The Call was joined in 1884 by the Brunswick times, another Democratic paper, in 1884. The Times, published evenings except Monday and Sunday morning, was published by Brunswick Publishing Company and its editor was H.A. Wrench (Rowells, 1897, p. 120). The two papers merged in 1900 to become the Brunswick times-call, with Roland A. Mullins as publisher and Arthur H. Leavy as editor. In 1902, still under the leadership of Mullins and Leavy, the title changed to the Brunswick News. The paper is still published under this title and known as the "Voice of the Golden Isles."
