Newspaper

  • November 14, 1930: Stuart M. Stout publishes the first issue of the Warm Springs Advertiser; the paper circulates weekly for the rest of its run.

  • October 30, 1931: C. D. Veeder and L. M. Weinberg, both patients at the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation, assume editorial control and change the title to the Warm Springs Mirror. Stout remains owner and publisher.

  • Fall 1933: H. E. Poor purchases the Mirror from Stuart M. Stout who later revives the defunct Chipley News and becomes Warm Springs mayor in 1950.

  • January 1951: Ralph M. Rice, publisher of the Manchester Mercury, expands his newspaper business by purchasing the Warm Springs Mirror and Tri-County Review (Chipley).

  • January 29, 1954: Mirror ceases publication.

  • According Griffith, L. T., Talmadge, J. E., & Drewry, J. E. (1951). Georgia journalism, 1763-1950. University of Georgia Press (pg. 410): "Edward Stout [later editor of the West Georgian and Red & Black college newspapers] for a time was leasee, editor, and publisher, assisted by his father, but the Mirror reverted to the elder Stout. . ."
