Het gezin Borghetti verhuist naar een flat in het Rome van de jaren 70. De relaties binnen het gezin zijn gespannen. Clara en Felice zijn niet meer verliefd op elkaar, maar zijn niet in staat om hun eigen weg te bewandelen. Clara weet haar eenzaamheid op te vangen met behulp van haar drie kinderen. Adriana is daarvan de oudste. In haar nieuwe buurt uit zij zichzelf als een jongen. Door deze beslissing bereiken de gezinsrelaties een breekpunt.

In de jaren 70 verhuizen Clara en Felice naar een nieuw appartement in Rome. Hoewel de twee niet meer gelukkig zijn samen, is scheiden geen optie. Ze zal dus gebonden blijven, daar waar ze vrijheid wil. Haar kinderen krijgen dat allemaal mee van haar. Haar 12-jarige dochter Adriana ziet met lede ogen toe hoe de relatie tussen haar ouders steeds slechter gaat. Tegelijkertijd worstelt Adriana zelf ook met haar identiteit, want ze is eigenlijk liever een jongen.

Brief summary

The Borghetti family moves into a flat in 1970s Rome. Relations within the family are strained. Clara and Felice are no longer in love with each other, but are unable to go their separate ways. Clara copes with her loneliness with the help of her three children. Adriana is the eldest of them. In her new neighborhood she expresses herself as a boy. This decision pushes family relationships to a breaking point.

In the 1970s, Clara and Felice move into a new apartment in Rome. Although the two are no longer happy together, divorce is not an option. So she will remain bound, where she wants freedom. Her children get all that from her. Her 12-year-old daughter Adriana watches with sorrow as the relationship between her parents continues to deteriorate. At the same time, Adriana herself also struggles with her identity, because she actually prefers to be a boy.
