An incredulous smile fixes on your face while watching the wonderfully weird Flux Gourmet, a reaction that may lead to any mixed-up feelings becoming pleasurable ones. ew
The filmmakers suggest that they focus on a vegetarian way of life and that this is central to the message, but as a vegan I can say that this will add little to the world of cinema. There are better films and certainly better awareness-raising films for people who want to be more aware of the environment, their health and animals.
Een drietal experimentele performancekunstenaars, bekend om hun proces van "sonic catering" (waarbij ze storende geluiden uit verschillende soorten voedsel halen), nemen hun intrek in een afgelegen artistieke instelling, gerund door een rijke, raadselachtige regisseur die het project financiert. De groep wordt geleid door een narcistische, controlerende vrouw genaamd Elle. Een zelfbenoemde "hack" -journalist genaamd Stones wordt ingehuurd om de dagelijkse activiteiten van de groep vast te leggen, terwijl hij te maken heeft met onaangename gastro-intestinale stoornissen, waarvoor tests worden afgenomen door een arts ter plaatse. Terwijl Stones de machtsstrijd, vendetta's, repetities, optredens en smerige geschiedenis van het artistieke collectief documenteert, wordt hij steeds meer een deelnemer in het artistieke proces.

A trio of experimental performance artists, known for their process of "sonic catering" (where they extract disturbing sounds from various foods) take up residency at a remote artistic institution, run by a wealthy, enigmatic director who is funding the project. The group is led by a narcissistic, controlling woman named Elle. A self-described "hack" journalist named Stones is hired to document the day-to-day activities of the group, while dealing with unpleasant gastrointestinal disorders, for which tests are being administered by an on-site doctor. As Stones documents the artistic collective's power struggles, vendettas, rehearsals, performances, and sordid history, he increasingly becomes a participant in the artistic proceedings.
