Do you have a naughty sister who never lets you embroider pot holders for your aunt? No? Then read about one! “Ramona Geraldine Quimby!” is a common word in the Quimbys’ house. Ramona is a very naughty four-year-old girl who annoys nine-year-old Beatrice, whom everyone calls Beezus because that is what Ramona first called her older sister. Guess what? Ramona isn’t only naughty, she is too imaginative. Would you lead an imaginary lizard called Ralph on an empty lead? Would you put a dog in the bathroom because he ate your biscuit? Would you scribble on a library book to make it yours? Would you take a single bite out of each apple, toss it aside, and bite a new one? Would you put the eggs in the grinder with the shells and start it? Would you put your doll in the oven, inside which a cake is baking, to become Gretel in the story “Hansel and Gretel”? Would you spill crumbs on the floor to become Hansel? I know too many questions to answer! Ramona is considered a pest and is always told to grow up. If you are a child, you know how hard it is! Ramona is a very naughty child and like most children, she rarely does what she is supposed to do. She usually does the opposite thing.

Beverly Cleary is a great writer. She is one of the writers on my list of my favorite writers. She has written many books like Ralph and Henry Huggins, but the Ramona Quimby books are the best. If you love this series, then check out her other books!
