- English would be the only language you could expect people to understand. It can reduce the communication gap in every corner of the world.
- From that, you can build and develop relationships sustainably with others, especially with foreigners.
III. How to speak English well?
1. Pronunciation
- You don’t have to worry about having an American or British accent; the main consideration here is that your speech is clear and you are easy to understand.
2. Lexical Resource
- Lexical resources basically mean vocabulary. To do well in this area, you need to have a wide-ranging vocabulary and use that vocabulary accurately.
3. Grammatical Range and Accuracy
- This part of the Speaking Criteria refers to your ability to avoid making grammar mistakes. You should also have a wide enough range of grammar to be able to talk about a variety of things and use complex sentences.
4. Coherence
- Coherence literally means being logical and consistent. In a speaking test, this refers to how you expand and explain your answers with explanations and examples, answer the question being asked, and connect sentences together using discourse markers and tenses.
5. Fluency
- Fluency refers to your ability to speak smoothly and at an appropriate speed, without any unnatural pauses. This is an area that is often misunderstood by students as meaning that you just talk as fast as you possibly can or talk without pausing. If you listen to how native speakers talk, they don’t normally talk very fast, and there are plenty of pauses. This is totally acceptable; you just don’t want to pause more than normal.
6. Practice regularly
- Even if your English is already pretty good, you still have to practice. Try to think of a word of the day and then try to use it as often as possible or communicate with friends daily. If you do this, don't waste time on complicated words you'll never use. Instead, focus on conversational English in everyday life and practice it regularly.
