VSTEP = Vietnamese Standardized Test of English Proficiency
There are four parts to the VSTEP test
VSTEP reading
VSTEP listening
VSTEP speaking is a face-to-face interview format test with a trained examiner
VSTEP writing.
VSTEP provides feedback to students in terms of their overall proficiency level. Raw scores are converted to band scores on a 0–10 scale. The test further reports whether test takers have achieved a level relevant to CEFR B1, B2, and C1, or are below B1 (Dunlea et al., 2016). (The results are reported on a six-level numerical scale used as a local adaptation of the CEFR, CEFR-VN, with 3 being equivalent to B1, 4 to B2, and 5 to C1.)
The focus on proficiency levels B1 and above reflects the usages for which the test was developed, including as noted above, being used as proof of attainment of proficiency levels laid out as requirements for university graduation by MOET.
When you prepare for VSTEP, there is no particular place to start. Just start where you want to start. This section will help make sure you cover all the vital aspects of preparation before your test.
If you prepare in the right way, you will be able to maximize your results. Having both good English and a clear understanding of the VSTEP test is essential. Be clear-minded and strategic in your approach and training.
