Ms. Malini Maharaj is currently an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, where she has served for the past 19 years in various capacities as Lecturer, Instructor, Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant.
Apart from teaching, Ms. Maharaj has also been involved in research on projects on topics involving Governance and Development, Poverty and the Environment; Sustainable Development and Environmental Economics, consulting with local and foreign institutions such as the Environmental Management Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (EMA); The Trinidad and Tobago Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TTEITI); The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the International Budget Partnership (IBP), the World Bank (WB) and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP).
A Review of Trinidad and Tobago’s Budget for Accountability, Transparency and Public Participation was completed by Ms. Maharaj for the TTEITI (2020) and she is currently in the process of completing the Open Budget Survey for Trinidad and Tobago for the International Budget Partnership- an exercise that she has been involved in for over a decade.
