Prances & Flutters

Prances

Step with your left on odd counts. Step with your right on even counts.

The steps are small and bouncy, you do not go for distance.

Your toe should be pointed beneath you each step.

Think about a prancing horse when you are learning this exercise, watch their hooves when they prance!

Flutters

In Flutters, you are moving across the floor up on your toes in relevé.

You are also practicing moving on the "and" beat, the time in between each beat. You do NOT follow the normal rule of left foot on odd counts and right foot on even counts. Instead you step on each beat and each "and" in between the beats!
