Shades of nature
– After Ada Limon
Melinda Bardsley
More than the scent of it about
to rain, more than seeing the barren
snow covered trees in my neighbors
back yard, it’s the colors that really
gets to me. When all the popping colors
come into the world, they’re bright and
happy, and then dim and gloomy.
The snow melting off, and a quilt
of dreams resting under there, peaceful,
serene and most of all, a vibrant shade
after a period of monotonicity. Flowers
waking up from their slumber, their
multicolored petals reaching up to the sky.
Only then, does the land truly live.
Author's Note: Somehow my best writing gets done when I'm doing multiple other things all at once; when I write I do better writing at night even though I'm exhausted. I don't know why I like writing, I just started and fell in love with it.
