A Lucent Spring
By Claire Higgins
Soothing winds gust against the vanilla
buds blossoming, blow away in a flurry,
the thriving meadow seems as though
winter season has come at daybreak in spring.
The flushed sky blooms of gold with aquamarine
and leaves no weight on the hills of the planet,
like the lifting of a quarrel upon
shoulders of a soul brimming with love.
Nearby life harmonizes, imitations
of beautiful songs feel like the atmosphere
of this early morning, warm and lovely,
echoing through the unabridged heart.
Appealing and charming, a clean slate,
a new love; but the slate is not clean,
just as the land flourishes of foliage
like a heart affixed to another.
Author’s Note: I love writing because it distracts you from the real world and allows you to imagine things different than they are. You can do it anywhere at any time: paper, online, or in your mind. It lets you relax and calm your mind even if things are chaotic.
