Knowing Your Stuff

As a child, we don’t truly know that much. As an adult, there is still so much to learn about the world.
There are around one hundred thousand types of trees in the world. Each tree has individual unique features, usually going unnoticed by most people. Shaped leaves worn down by the environment, each telling a story of the past.
The sky is blue and we wondered why.
The temperature is already high at the equator from the way the Earth leans toward the sun. There are no steady surface winds at the equator to deal with the temperature from the sun.
Some people think that they know everything, but they don’t know that much at all.
Over two thirds of the world’s freshwater comes from glaciers and ice sheets. Thousands of years of us have left most of them dissolving.
The wind blows against anything it comes across and tries to toss it out of the way. The wind pushes trees, causing them to wobble and sway back and forth. Gusty wind fights with water creating hills all over. Eventually, there is peace and waves swim with the wind.
Out of thousands of different species of birds, hummingbirds are the only type that can fly backwards.
The sun shines in the day and then disappears at night and we wondered how.
There is always more to understand or things to improve. It is not possible to truly be perfect at anything or know everything.
We thought we were at the center, so we put ourselves above everything else. Anyone that tried to disprove this would be cast out. We couldn’t accept this fact; it would not suffice us.
The refraction of light in the atmosphere gives off the blue color of the sky. The different wavelengths give off different colors making the beauty and elegance of a sunset possible.
We sailed around the world to find solutions to our problems. A newly found section of land just created more problems.
Curiosity and simplicity are stuck in our heads as kids. For most people, both start to fade away as we grow older. Maybe it is better for everyone to have a break, to think like a kid and not have our heads ache.
We eventually figure things out, but it can be difficult or disappointing to know. We would rather go back to not knowing at all.
The Earth twirls on its axis creating day and night, two different halves. We turn with the Earth going away from the sun. Every single day, the sun comes back from being hidden. This process doesn’t stop.
It can be hard to comprehend certain things, so sometimes we believe that it is impossible or not true.
A piece of paper that is folded forty-two times would reach the moon. At one hundred and three folds, the thickness of a piece of paper would have a greater length than the observable universe.
Sometimes we know more than we understand.
