Here's what a group of schools is aiming to set up:

Each school commits to phase out its existing GPA- and grade-based transcripts for

a digital, interactive format that showcases students’ academic and enrichment skills,

areas for growth, and

samples of work or talents,

such as a video of a public speaking competition or

a portfolio of artwork.

Here's how Big Picture Learning asks students to approach a topic... by asking five questions, such as "How do I prove it?" and "How do I measure it?"

The "transcript" used by Big Picture schools rates these skills (rather than giving grades for particular subjects)

At the end of the semester, instead of grades, feedback for each independent project comes after an “exhibition of learning.”
