Dr. Fischler made a presentation about how to set up a "transformed school."

"We can make each student the class by varying time for the student to participate in the learning."

How can I help you? One of my students told me, "We are here toserve each other." Correct. How can I serve you? call or text +1 954 693-6379

I rememberstanding with Dr. Fischler outside Mavericks High school in 2011. He said, "The owners of this school want to name this campus for me. But this is still a Model T Ford. They have computers, but the students aren't allowed to freely explore the internet. They need more projects and discussions."

I pointed out that many of the students arrive hungry to school.

Fischler: "You have to feed them somehow. It's Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The students are more likely to listen after they're fed."

The Center for PPP has a procedure for creating a project: "Make a Poster with a Quote and a Photo." That poster becomes part of the student's portfolio. The student records a presentation about the poster (that video becomes part of the student's portfolio). CLICK HERE

I use Dr. Mazur's technique called "Turn to your neighbor" -- I stop the lecture and ask students a question .... I ask them to select an answer and turn to their neighbors to discuss the best answer.
