Byrne Creek Robotics is a relatively new addition to our ADST department. In grades 9 and 10, we offer combined Electronics and Robotics courses. Students in these grades learn about basic electronic systems and how they can be integrated into robotic systems. In the Junior grades, we use the VexIQ system to quickly prototype, program, and test robotic systems.
In Grades 11 and 12, these two courses diverge and a seperate Robotics course is offered. Students take on the roles of mechanical engineers, computer scientists and electrical engineers. In the classroom setting, students learn more in depth robotic systems, and how sensor and feedback loops can be integrated into more complex tasks. Students put knowledge into practice through lab settings where robots are created with teams.
The Robotics Classes are not the only opportunity for Robotics at Byrne Creek. We also have the FIRST Robotics Team. FIRST Robotics is an international robotics design and manufacturing competition and we are excited to participate in the competition.
The FIRST club allows students from all grades to get a jump start in many different areas from electronics, to coding, to manufacturing. This is a multi-disciplinary competition - our students do not need to have any experience; we can teach them any skills necessary.
