Spanish studies at Byrne usually begin in Grade 9, but the option to join later with Spanish 11 Intro is also available to our students. Its influence on world culture continues to grow - as the fourth most spoken language on our planet and its official language status in 21 countries across Europe, Africa, Central, South and North America, Spanish has come to be a very important language of diplomacy, business and everyday life. The sound/letter correspondence in Spanish is almost perfect – for every sound, there is one letter to represent it, and every letter makes one sound only, making writing and pronunciation easy to learn.
