Our Languages courses offer students the chance to communicate with other communities around the world. Completing French, Japanese, Mandarin (Chinese) or Spanish to the Grade 12 level gives most students the ability to read authentic texts and literature, to enjoy cultural products such as films and TV programs and allows them to engage native speakers in conversations in their own language.

Many personal and professional opportunities await Byrne Creek’s Languages students. Both UBC and Simon Fraser University prefer students who have completed a Language to at least the Grade 11 level; elsewhere in the country and abroad, Languages requirements vary. Students with strong language skills are encouraged, as early as Grade 9, to pursue more than one Languages program.
