Japanese studies at Byrne usually begin in Grade 9, but the option to join later with Japanese 11 Intro is also available to our students. With almost 130,000,000 native speakers, Japanese is the 9^th most widely spoken language in the world. The contributions to global culture of the world’s third largest economy include anime, judo and, of course, sushi! Its three different writing systems may present a challenge, but Japanese is easy to pronounce and you don’t have to conjugate verbs. Japanese learners get to enjoy – in their original form – great literary works, movies and manga.
