If you are unsure how to put your reed on your clarinet or saxophone, watch this video.
If all of your reeds are broken, you will need to buy new reeds. Most students will be used to buying their own, but below is some general guidance for those who are unsure about what to get.
If you are playing a regular size clarinet, this is called a Bb Clarinet and you will need to buy Bb clarinet reeds. If you are playing a smaller size clarinet you will need to buy Eb clarinet reeds.
We recommend strength 1.5 Rico or Juno reeds for beginners.
If you are beyond beginner level, we recommend that you check your current reed to see what strength and make you have been using whilst your teacher is unable to advise you. If your teacher has been telling you to move up a reed strength - now is the time to do it!
When you buy saxophone reeds, you will need to make sure you buy reeds for the correct size saxophone. Most BMS students play Alto saxophone, a small number of students are learning on a Tenor saxophone. If you don't know what saxophone you are learning on, it is most likely that you are learning on an Alto saxophone.
