Hello trombone players! Click on the options below to support you with your practice.
Learn the names of the notes and their value as this will help with your music reading. The Dynamics will tell you how soft or loud you need to play.
The notes are more commonly called: Semi breve (Whole note), Minim (Half note), Crotchet (Quarter note), Quaver(Eighth note) and Semi quaver (sixteenth note).
Here is the B flat major scale, you can see that you've already played and are confident with the pitch and slide positions for the first 3 notes B flat, D and E flat. Now see if you can go higher!
Click on the video link to practise your Bb's. Remember you need to have a strong buzz, lots of air and start your note with Tu or Ta using your tongue. You must make the same sound as Mrs Gardner, if you're too low then pull the corners of your mouth back and pull your chin down, if you're too high relax your mouth slightly. Remember not to push your lips forward.
The more you practise the easier you will find playing, you will progress quicker and you will enjoy playing even more.
Have fun playing!
Click on the video links and practise your performance piece with Mrs Gardner. Mrs Gardner will break the piece down into manageable chunks for you to practise as per your lessons and then you will put everything you've learnt together.
Watch the video of other brass instruments playing together, you may even want to learn one of these! You could learn any of the following brass instruments through BMS:
French Horn
Trumpet
Tuba
Baritone
Euphonium
and of course the trombone!!!
