We use warm-ups to improve our technical playing on our instrument. Different warm-ups help us improve different parts of our playing. Long notes improve our sound and scales improve our finger movements. We can use warm-ups to practice getting better at tonguing, slurring, dynamics, holding our instruments correctly and anything else that we want to improve.
These warm-ups include lots of short exercises to improve all aspects of your flute playing. Try the whole sheet or choose a couple of exercises to work on each week.
Scales help improve your fingerwork and your sight-reading. These are the scales you need to be able to play to do your grade 2 exam. Even if you're not planning on taking an exam, scales are really important for improve our playing.
