The Beecher Athletic Hall of Fame is pleased to announce Brandon DuBois as a member of the 2019 Beecher Hall of Fame class. Brandon, a 2002 Beecher graduate, is the most decorated baseball pitcher in Beecher High School history. He holds all major pitching records in school history including wins (36), strikeouts (423), and innings pitched (309.2). These records also stack up well when compared to the rest of the state. Brandon’s 36 wins is 12th most in state history, his 423 strikeouts are 18th most, and his 309.2 innings pitched is good for 10th most in the history of high school baseball in the state of Illinois.
Brandon was the baseball team MVP his sophomore, junior, and senior year as well as earning All River Valley Conference first team honors three times, and Kankakee Daily Journal All Area team all three years. His senior year, Brandon had a remarkable year where he was dominant on the hill with 106 strikeouts to go along with only 5 walks and a 0.74 ERA. He also had 3 no-hitters in his final year. Brandon was named first team All State by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association. Brandon also played three years of varsity basketball and earned honorable mention All RVC his final year.
Brandon continued his career and went on to pitch at the Illinois Wesleyan University. Brandon excelled as a Titan and finished his career fourth in school history in career appearances (47), fifth in innings pitched (201), 12th in strikeouts (125), and fourth in wins (18).
Brandon is still writing chapters in his athletic career as he continues to pitch for the Beecher Muskies, a team that competes in the Chicago Suburban Baseball League. In 2010, Brandon earned two tournament victories including a win in the final game to clinch a Muskies championship in the National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series. Brandon was named MVP of the 2010 NABF World Series. In 2018, Brandon was honored by the CSBL by being inducted into their hall of fame. Brandon has pitched for the Muskies since 2002 and owns a 108-48 record, with an ERA of 3.19 in over 1,200 innings pitched.
It is safe to say baseball is in Brandon’s blood as he has now played baseball every single summer over the past 30 years. Brandon currently works for the Beecher school district as a history teacher and he has been the head varsity baseball coach since 2011. Brandon has a career record of 242-153 and he has three regional championships and one sectional championship as a coach.
Brandon will be honored, along with the other inductees, at a special banquet at Cardinal Creek Golf Club on Friday, February 8th at 4:30pm. The event is open to the public and the cost is $40 per person. More information regarding tickets will be available soon. The inductees will also be honored between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball game later that evening. Stay tuned tomorrow, as we announce our second member of the 2019 Hall of Fame class.
