The Beecher Hall of Fame Commission is pleased to announce Tony Fernatt as a member of the 2018 inaugural hall of fame class. Tony, a 1987 graduate, was one of the state’s elite runners during his time at BHS. Tony’s freshman year, he set the tone for his future success by placing 6th in the 3200 meter run at IHSA Track State Championships. His sophomore year in 1985, Tony was the KVC champion in the 3200M and at the state level, he finished 2nd in in the 3200M. His junior year in 1986, Tony was the cross country KVC Champion, while also having the best KVC marks in the 1600M and 3200M. At the state level Tony finished 2nd at the IHSA State Cross Country Meet. In his senior year, Tony won his 3rd consecutive conference championship in the 3200M, and his 2nd consecutive in the 1600M. His final year at BHS, Tony finished 2nd in state in the 3200M and 7th in the 1600M. Tony broke through at the state cross country meet with a state championship in the fall of 1986.
Tony went on to run cross country at DePaul, where he was named Male Cross Country Most Outstanding Performer in 1988-89 and also in 1989-1990. Tony currently resides in Apex, North Carolina where he is a Controller at Holly Hill Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
