The Beecher Athletic Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the 2004 state champion softball team as a member of the 2019 Beecher Hall of Fame class. This team, which was led by Kevin Hayhurst (Hall of Fame Class of 2018), won a school record 36 games with only 3 losses. The state championship in 2004 was the first team state championship in Beecher High School history in any sport. On the road to the state championship, the Ladycats won the Beecher Regional by defeating Seton Academy 11-0 and Peotone 4-3. They claimed the Reed-Custer Sectional by defeating Putnam County 7-1 and Manteno 8-0. The also won the University of Illinois Super-Sectional over Prairie Central 8-1. At the state tournament the Ladycats encountered three nail biters as they defeated Pinckneyville 4-2, Nashville 3-2, and Warrensburg-Latham 2-0 in the state championship game.
