The Beecher Athletic Hall of Fame is pleased to announce Eldon “Al” Hodgett as a member of the 2019 Beecher Hall of Fame class. Al Hodgett was a major part of Beecher athletics during his 32 years on staff. He served as athletic director, golf coach, cross country coach, and basketball coach. During Al’s 15 years as head boys basketball coach, he accounted for 140 wins. During the 1968-69 and the 1969-70 seasons, Al’s team won 22 games each year, which is still the most in Beecher boys basketball history. As golf coach, Al brought home a regional championship in back to back years in 1983 and 1984. These were the first golf regional championships in Beecher history. Al passed away in 2007.
Al’s contributions to Beecher athletics will be honored, along with the other inductees, at a special banquet at Cardinal Creek Golf Club on Friday, February 8th at 4:30pm. The event is open to the public and the cost is $40 per person. More information regarding tickets will be available soon. The inductees will also be honored between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball game later that evening. Stay tuned tomorrow, as we announce our third member of the 2019 Hall of Fame class.
