As a student note taking has always been part of my life, but, my definition of it has always been about taking beautiful notes to study better or just to show-off, nonetheless, this video made me realize that note taking is much more than that.

Note taking is principally about how to write the most in the shortest time possible. While looking at the notes that were shown on the video, I thought that if the original paragraph wasn’t show at the beginning, I won’t be able to know what was written on it.

Then, I tried to make the exercise of whiting numbers that weren’t Arabic and failed miserably, I also tried to copy the techniques that appeared on the video with the same symbols and abbreviations but after finishing, even if I had an understanding of the whole story, I couldn’t remember what was written on it. Then, while thinking how to make I rememberable I received a message by WhatsApp and saw that I have always written with those symbols and abbreviations, just in Spanish. Knowing that, it was easier to make my own abbreviations, even if the same word has different abbreviations as long as it is easier and faster to write and easier to remember then all is good.

Finally, what I found the most interesting was that when someone take better notes, they while be able to understand better the main point. This skill requires a los of concentration and listening skills, which can be practiced by taking more notes. All in all, practice makes teachers, therefore I just need to practice until I found the best way for me to take notes.

Como estudiante, tomar apuntes siempre ha formado parte de mi vida, pero mi definición siempre ha sido tomar notas bonitas para estudiar mejor o simplemente presumir. Sin embargo, este video me hizo darme cuenta de que tomar apuntes es mucho más que eso.

Tomar apuntes se trata principalmente de escribir lo máximo en el menor tiempo posible. Al ver los apuntes del video, pensé que si no se mostraba el párrafo original al principio, no podría saber qué estaba escrito.

Entonces, intenté escribir números que no fueran arábigos y fracasé estrepitosamente. También intenté copiar las técnicas del video con los mismos símbolos y abreviaturas, pero al terminar, aunque entendía toda la historia, no podía recordar lo que estaba escrito. Entonces, mientras pensaba en cómo hacerlo más fácil de recordar, recibí un mensaje de WhatsApp y vi que siempre había escrito con esos símbolos y abreviaturas, solo que en español. Sabiendo eso, fue más fácil crear mis propias abreviaturas, incluso si la misma palabra tiene diferentes abreviaturas, siempre que sea más fácil, rápido y fácil de recordar, todo bien.

Finalmente, lo que me pareció más interesante fue que cuando alguien toma mejores apuntes, puede comprender mejor la idea principal. Esta habilidad requiere concentración y capacidad de escucha, que se puede practicar tomando más apuntes. En definitiva, la práctica hace maestros, así que solo necesito practicar hasta encontrar la mejor manera de tomar apuntes.
