Chicago Notes/Bibliography - Equity

Draft 3

Draft 3 - Equity

Jay Caspian Kang, an education reporter for the New York Times reported that, "starting with the class of 2030, will require every public and charter high school student in the state to take an ethnic studies course before graduation.”1 Equity in America has been a goal, but thus far it has been a work in progress and society is far from achieving its goal.2 Joe Hernandew, who is the …., reported for NPR that, “There were 7,759 reported hate crimes in the U.S. last year — the most in 12 years, the FBI reported this week.”3 Hence Governor Newsom of California signed into law a new high school requirement.4 Continuing Besosa and Maisto’s previous argument, most faculty members at most colleges are part-time teachers.5

The issue of equity as it affects education is complicated.6 Many factors need to be considered.

Hate crimes have always plagued America. However, hate crimes are becoming more visible as society begins to take more notice.7
