Afterlight - Day Court

History

The Day Court was one of the first Fae courts to rise during Thorin’s chaotic early days, an era when magic surged wild and the Fae were feral and fractious. While their Night siblings embraced the calm of darkness, the Day Fae were born of warmth, clarity, and light.

Originally gathered under the Celestine Accord, the first Highborne Day Fae sought refuge not in forests or mountains, but above the world. Building their seat of power atop floating islands, sun-drenched plateaus, and sanctuaries hidden in the skies. These airborne homes became the first formalized Seelie stronghold in Thorin, where diplomacy, harmony, and art could thrive without the savagery that plagued the lower realms.

Their rise led to friction with the Night Court, culminating in the Eclipse War, a devastating magical feud that split the Fae into near-total polarity. Though the Unistus Court now stands as the neutral capital, the Day Court has never forgotten the grief of that war, nor the cost of pride. They have chosen peace, but they are not incapable of war.

Society

Their world is built on the ideals of grace, illumination, and restraint. They dwell among sky-structures veiled in mist and light, suspended on enchanted currents above the mountains of Thorin. Their land, Solaryn, is often called "The Place of Ten Thousand Wings." Despite their serene image, the Day Court is not naive; they understand power intimately and simply choose not to wield it recklessly. To them, control is strongest when it is never needed. Light is sacred, not only in the literal sense: it represents truth, clarity, and intention. To act without purpose is to dishonor the light.

Hierarchy is based on magical resonance and wisdom, not physical prowess or wealth. The Court is ruled by a Triad of Radiants, three beings who embody Dawn, Zenith, and Dusk respectively, symbolizing balance. The Dawn is the face and voice of the court. They oversee diplomatic missions, treaties, and emissary training. A patron of diplomacy, the arts, and guidance. The Zenith is the beacon of strength, truth, order, and justice. They are the military and legal head, presiding over the enforcement of laws and safeguarding the court's magical stability as the Commander of the Sun Paladins and the Skyborne. The Dusk watches the soul of the court: history, archives, and the balance of power between the Triad. They are the Head Cleric, overseeing prophecy and magical research, guiding rites and ancestral comunion. They lead the Solari Choir.

Day Fae are physically radiant: feathered wings that shimmer like sunlight, gold or blue eyes, and hair of platinum, gold, or copper fire. Their skin tones range from sun-kissed bronze to deep amber. Wing size and feather hue often carry unspoken social weight. The rarest are gold-tipped and dawn-colored wings, which are considered divine-blooded. Their cities feature ivory archways, crystal gardens, sun-forged glass mosaics, and music that's carried on the winds.

Military

While the Day Court rarely engages in war, they maintain a formidable military structure. One centered around defense, diplomacy, and magical escalation only when necessary. To break the peace of the Day Court is to awaken a wrath as blinding as it is precise.

The Sun Paladins

The standing guard of the Day Court, sworn to never draw first blood unless a Radiant commands it.

Trained in both aerial combat and radiant magic. They also use enchanted halberds, solar shields, and barrier spells.
Often wear armor gilded with light steel, adorned with wings etched into the plates.

The Skyborne

Winged cavalry and aerial guardians of the skies, recognizable by burnished sky-pennants and trailing banners that sing in the wind.

Ride enchanted wind currents and battle mid-flight in formations that resemble flocks of birds or rays of light.
Use spears of light, energy javelins, and explosive sunbursts to scatter enemies.

The Solari Choir

Arcane division composed of spellcasters and light-magi. Often trained in music-based casting, each spell is a song of celestial fury.

Their spells channel pure light, time-magic, and protective harmonics.
Members wear veils of starlight and glowing circlets above their brows.
