Magic in Ajagar

The Pulse

The Pulse is the name given to the ever-flowing current of magical energy that moves through Ajagar. An invisible, living force that threads beneath land, sea, and soul. All mana, red and blue, originate from the Pulse. It is limitless, unseen, and interwoven with the world's very foundation. Scholars liken it to a heartbeat beneath the skin of the world, while spiritualists claim it is the breath of the gods themselves, left behind after the dragons fell. All agree that without the Pulse, Ajagar would fall silent.

Nature of Mana

Ajagar's magic flows in two primal forms known as Blue Mana and Red Mana.

Blue Mana:

Red Mana:

Note: Red Mana is not inherently evil, but it is drawn from negative states, and prolonged exposure can warp the caster's body, mind, or soul. It is a dangerous gift.

Mana Flow

Ajagar itself provides an endless ocean of magic, but not all vessels can hold it. Mortals act as conduits, not creators. Some are born with open channels, others closed.

Using too much mana too quickly can cause:

Some beings, such as High Fae, divine-touched, or ancient bloodlines, have greater resistance to these effects and can channel larger flows safely.

Magical Talent Tiers

All living beings in Ajagar are born with magical potential. However, not everyone can tap into that energy, and those who do vary widely in their ability to channel, control, or survive the flow of mana. The tier system is used to measure magical aptitude in individuals. It reflects both magical capacity and how well one can wield mana, whether naturally, emotionally, or through study.

Tiers:

Note: Tiers are not permanent. With time, training, or trauma, some may ascend or fall.
