Self - Reflect statement
The rigging I learned this semester is something I have never touched before. It requires carefulness and patience to make the best rig. The learning process is almost slow, but every week I can gain a lot of new knowledge and make the rig more perfect.
When I was making it, there were several times when I didn't check the model carefully after skinning, which caused me to drag my fingers but the shoulders also moved along. This situation came from my carelessness during the production. I should carefully check the animation details after each production, instead of focusing on one place and not paying attention to whether I have selected other positions.
I still need to practice rigging more. When I was completing challenge 2 independently, I sometimes got stuck. For example, no matter how I adjusted the skinning of the character model, I was not satisfied. I tried many times before I got a result that I felt was good. I still need to practice skinning more and pay attention to details.
I am not very good at mechanical rigging (mini rigs). Although the tutorials for each independent study are not long, I still feel a little difficult when making them. Compared with the body rigging that I am already quite proficient in, the production is not as smooth and fast. I also need to practice more to consolidate the basics of rigging.
I am the type who prefers to do things at home, and I tend to be distracted during class, which sometimes causes me to not seek help immediately when I encounter problems in production, but to leave them until the next class to be solved, which reduces my production efficiency. I need to work harder to concentrate in class and try to do more in class so that problems can be solved in a timely manner.
I really enjoyed the process of making the skeleton. I found it interesting to fix the position of the locators, confirm each part and each joint, and then create joints. I was also very smooth and skilled in making it, and the skeleton I got was also good. I think my results in skeleton making are very good.
Although I still need more practice in skinning, I like the process of making skinning. Especially when the result is good after repeated improvements, I think skinning is the most interesting part of rigging.
Overall, I have gained a lot from animation rigging this semester. This is my first time to learn about rigging and I have successfully made several rigs, which I am satisfied with. But I need to continue to work hard on my negligence and some problems during the production.
